Online New Route Book Start Discussion

Welcome to the climb-tafraoute online route book.

We're doing some work on these pages at the moment, so please bear with us if the order of the pages seems a little bit random. Once we've finished, we hope to list every one of Tafraoute's thousand or so climbs!

Many of the routes in the Anti-Atlas have seen few ascents, so your comments on grades, quality, and route descriptions will help us to make future editions of the guidebook more accurate, and provide a great source of info for future visitors.

To comment on a particular route, or add details of a new climb, please select the relevant area from the Online Route Book below, then choose the crag on which your route is located. To add a new route, click the 'Post Reply' button at the top right... and away you go!

Finally, if you've spotted a mistake in one of our guidebooks or miniGuides, then please let us know in the 'Corrections' forum. Thanks!

Sidi M'Zal Area

To the east of Jebel el Kest, on the main road between Tafraoute and Agadir is the important climbing centre of Sidi M'Zal. A number of worthwhile single-pitch crags exist alongside some impressive high-mountain buttresses.

Idaougnidif Area

The high summits above Idaougnidif provide some of the very best multi-pitch climbing the Anti-Atlas has to offer, in a stunning setting on the north-eastern side of the Jebel el Kest Massif.

Samazar Valley

The enormous, remote valley to the north of Afantinzar holds some of the biggest, most adventurous climbs in the Anti-Atlas. With no surfaced road, and some huge rock faces, climbing here is always something of an adventure...

Tanalt, Tagzene, Tagmout

The western end of the Jebel el Kest massif, including the high valley of Tagzene, Dwawj, Tanalt, and the Tanalt to Ameln road through Tagmout. Lots of good cragging, both single and multi pitch.

Jebel Taskra

This is the massif to the north of Jebel el Kest. Most of the climbing is along the extensive Tizi N'Takoucht escarpment on the north eastern side between Kasbah Tizourgane and Tizi N'Takoucht itself.

Granite Routes

The granite around Tafraoute has seen steady route activity since the first climbers visited the area over 30 years ago, and whilst the quality of the rock isn't quite up to that of the quartzite, it can provide interesting climbing within walking distanc
